We are pleased to announce we are applying for renewal of accreditation through the national Land Trust Accreditation Program. This program recognizes land conservation organizations that meet national quality standards for protecting important natural places and working lands forever.
The accreditation process includes an extensive review of each applicant’s policies and programs by the Land Trust Accreditation Commission, an independent program of the Land Trust Alliance. A public comment period regarding DNRT’s application is now open.
DNRT was first accredited in 2014, joining only 280 other land trusts – out of nearly 1,700 nationwide – that had been awarded accreditation through that year. DNRT takes seriously the legal and ethical obligations that come with stewarding its 1,767 acres of land and 1,370 acres of conservation restrictions. Renewal of Land Trust Accreditation will affirm DNRT’s dedication to the highest standards of nonprofit management and conservation practices in the nation.
The Commission invites public input and accepts signed, written comments on pending applications. Comments must relate to how DNRT complies with national quality standards. These standards address the ethical and technical operation of a land trust. For the full list of standards click here.
