Work Party Recap – March

Our first work party of the month was the first one ever at our soon-to-be-opened Flag Swamp Bog. We added some small pieces of infrastructure as well as cleaned up the property. Quite a bit of trash had accumulated from the roadside over time. There were also some old materials left from when the property was an active cranberry bog.

It was a busy month at Parsons reserve with two separate work parties back-to-back! Our first Parsons work party was a lot of clean up of the daffodil field and some small housekeeping items. Three trees and many limbs fell in the field due to the winter’s blizzard and subsequent windy days. Much effort went into removing as material off site as possible. We completed repairs to damaged planks on one of our boardwalks.

The second work party at Parsons reserve was all about preparing for the thousands of spring visitors to the daffodil field. Last year we started work to redefine the paths’ boundary with some more space as well as new logs. The biggest effort was put into getting woodchips down on the paths. There were still some limbs to clean up even after all the work done previously. A huge shoutout to all the people who used their own vehicles over the two Parsons work parties to help move branches and shuttle wood chips. It could not have been a success without you!
